Book Club: Spare

Spare is a memoir written by Prince Harry.

Book Club Star Count: 7.5/10

Spare is an interesting book. Prince harry recounts his life from early days, to losing his mother and throughout his time in the military.

Many of us had not realized the amount of time Prince Harry spent in the military or some of the circumstances he was put under as a royal.

Realistically, this book was eye opening to the emotional distress Royals seem to be pulled through at such a young age. Book club was great because as we know, Harry and Meghan have created a divide and we were able to navigate a discussion about why and how we can argue both sides of this drama.

At the end of the day, the monarchy is only relevant because of public approval and doesn’t need to exist. Harry blames the british tabloids for many of his issues (yes they’re bad), but a hierarchical society seems so… 1800’s? Maybe they just need a re-brand.

Anyways…

Interesting book and topic that was a bit fun to explore but after two memoirs we have all agreed that mystery ficton is much more fun to discuss as a social book club.

Next Book: The Women in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware.
