Newsletter 2.10

Happy Friday!

Ahhhh, Facebook memories.

Most times I cringe. Sometimes I am hit with waves of nostalgia and laugh at the hilarity of my posts.

I got this one today:

It’s funny because

  1. What an awkward thing to post for 500+ peers to see.

  2. I really did hate writing. And oh gee I HATED english class.

I vividly remember being in the fifth grade crying in my parents kitchen so frustrated.

My dad was frustrated because I wasn’t getting it.

My mom was frustrated because my dad and I were not properly communicating.

I was frustrated because I was trying my hardest, but most likely was going to get another D. Let it be known, I was an all A’s student except English. Never received over a B+ in English.

School taught us analytical writing and story writing. I suck at both.

Then!

Later today, my friend Ari called. She was chatting about her pick up basketball game — she was shooting a lot more.

She reminisced about how in high school she thought she was a bad shooter. At some point in college she decided she was going to be a good shooter.

She found her shot, her spot and confidence. And then!! People cheered her on. Now, she’s known as a good shooter.

After these moments today and 5 weeks of writing these, I have a few takeaways:

  1. People do want to cheer you on.

  2. People are excited to watch others fine tune their craft, you don’t have to start off perfectly.

  3. Telling people they’re bad at something enough will stick. Choose your words wisely. Be supportive.

Today I am a bit sappy.

I put off creating content, articles, writing this newsletter for years because I was told I was a bad writer.

So, I am telling you that you can do it!

Just do it scared. It gets easier.

With that- I will be running tomorrow with Joggy, Juneshine and Rage & Release.

Pre-jog gummies and goodies from Joggy & post jog hard Booch for the runners. Meet at Juneshine in Williamsburg for below miles:

11 am- 10 miles *experienced runners

12:30- 3 miles *everyone welcome, all paces!

See ya there :)
